Fishing for trout is fantastic in the shallow water in front of our house since it where the spawning waters of the bays meet the Gulf of Mexico.

For birders, the Texas coast is a marvel of tanagers, buntings, orioles, warblers, and hummingbirds. With 613 documented birds, Texas exceeds all other states in opportunities to see a variety of birds. Texas specialties such as the green jay, ringed kingfisher, and great kiskadee provide birders with unique viewing opportunities.
The Upper, Central and Lower portions of the Trail comprise 43 separate loops. San Luis Pass is in the Bluewater Loop. Each encompasses an array of associated sites and birds.

Come from Highway 288 South or Interstate 45 South:
FROM THE WEST:
Take Highway 288 South to Highway 332 East. Follow 332 East over the Intracoastal Waterway into Surfside. Turn left at the light on Bluewater Highway. Follow Bluewater approximately 12 miles (if you pass Bright Light convenience store to the left you've gone too far). Look for the palm trees and light post at the entrance to Treasure Island to the right, and turn right on Palm Drive into the neighborhood. Go straight on Palm Drive heading toward the ocean and four streets down the road you will come to Jolly Roger Drive. Turn right onto Jolly Roger Drive - we are the second house on the left.
FROM THE EAST:
Take I-45 South to Galveston. Exit 61st Street and follow it towards the ocean to Seawall Blvd. Turn right on Seawall Blvd and follow it to the Toll Bridge. As you reach the opposite side of the bridge, you will see Bright Light convenience store on your right. Just past that, look for the palm trees and the light post on the left at the entrance to Treasure Island. Turn left, and go straight on Palm Drive heading toward the ocean - four streets down you will come to Jolly Roger Drive. Turn right onto Jolly Roger Drive - we are the second house on the left.
